Dent Doctor was founded in 1986 and specializes in PDR or paint less dent removal. It has since developed its services to include other minor vehicle repair jobs and because of its growth and popularity in the automotive services category, has started franchising in 1990. Its mission is to give entrepreneurs the opportunity to establish financial stability in a sustainable business, more particularly one in the automotive repair industry.

The franchise aims to continuously improve and develop their levels in customer service, promoting and protecting the brand for the benefit of all franchise owners. Dent Doctor envisions creating many opportunities for the Franchise owners to expand their business and continually upgrade on the knowledge and skills of the staff imploring the latest technology and developments. Also its goals include maintaining leadership in the automotive repair industry, through quality and service. The franchise opportunity is open to interested applicants both nationally and internationally. Exclusive territories are available. As per operations, 5% of all franchisees own more than one unit and the number of employees needed to run a single franchise unit is three. Also, absentee ownership of franchise is allowed and 95% of the current franchisees are owner operators.

There are three levels to the Dent Doctor franchise structure, first includes the workshop for Minor, Non-Structural Paintless Dent Removal, Level 2 includes the Workshop for Advanced Structure and Paintless Dent Removal repairs and finally Level 3 Workshop for Major Structure Repairs. All of which will be discussed in training. Start up costs and franchise fees include a total investment of $47,500 to $84,900, an initial franchise fee of $9,900 to $23,900 depending on the territory, usually $13,900 for territories that range up to 95,000 people and $23,900 for those with up to 200,000 people. Other qualifications include a net worth requirement of $75,000 and cash liquidity requirement of $20,000.The royalty fee is 6% and the term of agreement is renewable after 10 years. The qualifications and business experience for applicants are general business experience only as no automotive experience will be required.

Training is at the headquarters for 25 to 30 days in classroom and 4 weeks at the franchisees location. In case of transfer, $2,500 or legal fees incurred by Franchisor, whichever of the two is higher, will be required. Ongoing support is inclusive of newsletter, meetings, grand opening aid and assistance, the toll free phone line, internet support, field operations and evaluations, security and safety procedures and purchasing cooperatives. Marketing support includes co-op advertising, regional advertising and ad slicks. Other marketing support includes the creating of a local advertising plan.
