Depending on the degree you choose, you can become a nurse in 2-8 years. Another option is to study as a technician or nursing assistant at a certified hospital or clinic. When you’re already qualified, you can now take the licensure examinations. The license exam is available in the different states of the US as well as in other countries across the globe.
By taking the Associates degree, you can take the license exam and this will help you in securing a job someday but if you want advancement, you will need to take up a much higher degree. Most would-be nurses prefer to take up the ADN and the BSN. You can also opt for a degree as Nurse Practitioner because this ranks between Masters and the PhD. You can practice your knowledge and skills together with a doctor but not all states in the US offer this option. For those who want to teach subjects in nursing, you will need to have a PhD. As you can see, there are many options available for you. It can cost you about $32,000 to 50,000 and it will still depend if you’re able to get grants or scholarships. You have a chance to earn anywhere from $40,000 to over $80,000 annually.
