How to start a monogramming business?
For most companies, handing out promotional gifts becomes useless unless they are covered with the company monogram. This is where you can offer a niche service to your clientele to get a whole lot of client’s right at your home!
What you do?
Monogramming is covering promotional company gifts with the company name or even a logo. If you aren’t interested in company orders, then the next best thing for you will be bridal orders where you have to cover napkins, wedding favors and return gifts with the bride and groom names and wedding dates. Either way there is a large demand for this type of service and you can earn quite a lot of money!
What do you need?
The work may seem complicated but it’s not. You can do this from the safety of your home if you have the space to set up a monogramming machine to do the embroidered logos on promotional soft gifts like baseball caps and T-shirts. If you have to do the printing on hard surfaces then a silk screen printer becomes necessary but it’s easy to use too. You will also need a computer, a printer, a digital scanner and internet connection to keep you in touch with your clients. Having a website to show your designs and your capability for work is also a huge plus. Put your copyrighted designs on the website or even previous work completed for satisfied clients. You will also need basic design and publishing skills to make individual logos for brides and commercial clients. If you don’t have the knowhow learn the courses and practice till you have it right.
How do you get clients?
Advertising on the internet is one of the best ways to pull in clients and a website is really essential. Utilize the wedding sites to put up your ad for monogramming services. Although word-of-mouth publicity works well, you will need other forms of advertising too. Make sure that you have international methods of payment for clients who are in international locations. Set up a ‘contact me page’ at your website where clients can put in request or estimates for the work they require. Tie –up with a reputable shipping service to make sure that the monogrammed delivery occurs in the time period set by the company.
