The Huddle House was originally founded in the 1960’s in Atlanta, Georgia by John Sparks and caters mostly to travelers, though has menu’s and dishes that are applicable to any person of any age, young and old.
They serve a variety of meals as they are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Their servings include steaks, seafood, chicken and pork and you can indulge in breakfast, lunch and dinner at any time of day.
Franchising since 1966, the Huddle house brand aims to provide its customers with the quality food and service they deserve so everything served at the Huddle House is hot, fresh and delicious. It is because of this that the Huddle House is an ideal food chain/restaurant franchise option. The franchisor currently has 132 employees with 5 in the franchise department. The Huddle House Franchise is currently seeking franchisees in the United States with many exclusive territories still available.
As per Cost and Fees the total investment necessary for the franchise is around $612,406 to $2,420,200. The initial franchise fee requires is $25,000 to $35,000 with an ongoing royalty fee of 4.75% and a 15 year renewable term of agreement plus three five year renewals. Contribution for advertising is 1% and other qualifications include a building size of 1,840 to 4,150 square feet and a lot size of 0.6 to 1.1 acres. Qualifications for application are a net worth requirement of $500,000 with a cash liquidity requirement of $200,000. The applicant should have general business experience to qualify for application and experience in the food or restaurant industry is also an advantage. Currently, in operations 40% of the franchisees own more than one establishment and each franchise unit requires at least 24 employees to run the establishment. Absentee ownership of the establishment is allowed and 60% of the current franchisees are both owners and operators.
The Huddle House does not offer direct financing for applicants yet has numerous partnerships with financing companies which the Huddle House may refer the applicant to. Once the applicant has been approved he or she is required to pay the franchising fee outright and will then be called in for training after execution of the franchise agreement. The training is available at the headquarters for 7 weeks, after which the franchiser will offer ongoing support through meetings, regular newsletters, toll free phone services, assistance at the grand opening with purchasing cooperatives, security and safety procedures and field operations and evaluations. Marketing support will be provided thru co-op advertising, the national media and ad slicks. Applicants may also consider professional assistance such as accountants and attorneys in sorting out the legalities and finances but this will be on the behalf of the franchisee.
