US Government to Bring "Green Jobs" to Midwest

As part of the $787 billion stimulus package of the government, President Obama said that he will invest some $2.4 billion for creation of jobs in the Midwest to help it recover from the blows of the economic recession. Indiana, one of the most economically battered regions of the US will benefit most from the funding.

United States President Barack Obama on Wednesday pledged some $2.4 billion for the creation of "green jobs" and fast recovery of the US heartland especially Indiana, which was hardly hit by the current economic recession.

In his speech before a crowd of 200 people at a motor homes factory, Obama said that the Midwest’s statistics is in bad shape with growing number of unemployed people and rising cost of living. But he US president promised a smooth and firm recovery with the fund allotment under the $787 billion stimulus package.

The funding, according to Obama, is the largest investment of its kind with regard to technology and will help spur the industry and to improve the manufacture of batteries and electric vehicle components, which is the major livelihood of the people in Northern Indiana.

Obama said that with the investment in place, the US can now catch up with world leaders in the technology like Japan and China.

It will be recalled that Obama was carried into presidency by Indiana with overwhelming win against his opponent. The residents of the region believe that the first black president can bring change to them and erase the painful memory of the recession.
