@imtiazpasha, there are too many types of paddy, you should concentrate on area only. Karnataka produces majorly 5 types of paddy, here is the list. Normally you need to see the moisture and impurity in the paddy, there are machines in the market to tell you the figure. Rice from 1 Tonne of paddy is not constant, it varies from type to type and how fine you want your rice to be. Power is also relative thing, it depends on what kind of machinery you are using and what is your normal operational voltage. It will also depend on volume of your plant.

@souvik halder, I will suggest you to go for 2 tons instead of 1 ton. This parboiled plant will cost you around 2-2.5 crores, if you go for raw rice then it will cost you 1.5 to 2 crores. You will get subsidy for building godowns under NABARD, for rice mill machinery you have 15% central govt subsidy and there must be some state govt subsidy as well. For godowns and rice mill, check with your state govt agricultural promotion and development dept, they might have some top up subsidy.

hey Guys u dont need to invest 2crore in starting... plz read my notes clearly....
1. buy 1kg sample of different types of rice which is demanding in market from local mill shop
2. Go to any shopkeeper who sale rice and give your sample to him 100g only...and tell him .you have 10Quintle rice and tell him u supply in all india .
3. he will 100% demand for rice and will tell you his buying price .. if he say he will buy 2q or more in 3500/q or in more ..then go to local buyer and seller of paddy and buy 10quintle and make it Rice at local mill..
4. then you have to calculate what is the paddy cost for 10quintle and whats the produced rice Quantity per Quintal...i think 100kg paddy = 70kg rice...
5..suppose U buy 1q paddy in 2000 then ten Quintle is Rs 10*2000=2000. now mill and transport expenses u should include ..2000.. total invest+expenses for 10qunitle is = 22000
6 now you can sale it Rs 3500/q to 4000/q ..
example .. 10q paddy= 7q rice.
in 3500 7*3500 = 24500 , profit Is 2500
in 4000 7*400 = 2800 ,profit is 6000
u can earn without your own mill setup through small chakki type mill at market... and expand your business locally in starting ...when you got more knowledge according to time and experience of market then u can think about big setup but dont credits too much in life without any planning....
if u grow step by step according to me then you will play in crores in life... you should try always for big buyer who supply Rice out of india and gulf country always demanding long basmati Rice ...thnxxx everybody to read my notes...

@DJay, you can start a 3-4 ton plant but you need to make a market survey first. Who will be your rice consumer, is it government or free sell market? Do you have enough paddy in your area. Go and visit near by rice mills and remember the more number of millers you meet you gain more knowledge on the subject. Do ask them about the troubles they face.
