@maneesh sharma, If you just want to earn money then PVR or any other cinema chain are the best option but for that you will have to invest heavy amount which is not recommended. They also don't open their cinema at any place because their tickets price is always high and they maintain their standard. You should open your own and get good return by saving entertainment tax for 3 years.. 

@rakesh s. vadge, The area you mentioned is very big and can be utilized in many ways. To open a multiplex you need to have proper functional knowledge about the same as it covers many individual departments like architectural design with proper floor planning to clear Liaoning Issues, Sound, Light, Interior, Projector, Programming, etc.

@jaspy kalra, PUNJAB IS A TAX FREE ZONE, THERE IS A HUGE POTENTIAL OF CINEMA. IF YOU HAVE LAND AND CAN INVEST IN BUILDING APPROX 18000 TO 20000 SQFT THEN A MULTIPLEX WILL BE A GOOD PROPOSITION.

@JASDEEP SINGH, As per the capacity you mentioned would require 20000 to 40000 sq ft area and the cost of the A class multiplex would be around 30000 to 40000 per seat.

As far as A class multiplex cinema is concern there is no limit of expenses it depends on the quality work. 

@nikesh, You didn’t mention the cinema theater type whether Cineplex or Multiplex but I go with Cineplex and for the capacity of 200 seats cost should be around 15000 to 25000 per seat. 

@PRASHANTH, Bank loan is easily available with some T&C, for two screens cinema of 800 seats capacity would require Rs. 30000 to 35000 per seats and the area for the same should be 30000 to 40000 sq ft as you are very familiar with this industries suggest you to go with proper planning.

@AVINDER SINGH DHIR, 50 seats will be really small as per the fixed assets you use. Suggest you to consider minimum 100 seats if planning for 3 screens. If you are able to take any old existing cinema and want to do refurbishment would be easy for you or acquire new land for construction as per your plan. Liasoning process totally depends upon the area and your multiplex structure accordingly the NOC’s are taken which is second stage. You have to plan you procurement strategy for the set-up. @shantanu sharma, These are too many questions which can't be answered on this page as this is very detailed information needs to be discussed face to face. Rajshthan is the best option to open a multiplex because of tax rebate. As far as 400 seats are concerned you can open 3 or 4 screens multiplex and for that you would require 30000 to 40000 sq ft area and cost would be approximate 30000 Rs per seats. UK:- you get subsidy for 5 yrs. min 2500 Mt land required
Delhi:- No subsidy
Rajasthan:- No entertainment tax
so the scenario is different in all the different locations.. However you need to have at lease 25 to 30 million Rs for interior of cinema

@pankaj kumar, You will get 100% tax exemption from Panjab government for opening a cinema theater. so don't think about anything if you have interest in this field go ahead with your plan as soon as possible.

@mahesh agarwal, There are so many things to discuss as far as multiplex opening is concerned as you already have land to start. You need multiplex consultant who will work from beginning to end for you. Apart from civil work there is major licensing work involved in the whole process which needs to be planned once you share the exact cinema location with detailed requirement. @Nayan Jyoti Sarma, 3000 sq ft area is very small for any quality multiplex as you mentioned about all multiplex chain there in Guwahati, suggest you to go through their areas and facilities they provide and most important point is NOC from state government. At least go above 10000 sq ft flr area.

@satish khumukcham, Would you plan or opened already? There are three ways to get movies first directly from local sub distributor, second from Mumbai and third from local agent who looks after many theaters on commission basis. You need to get in touch with one of them.

All movies are being distributed by Corporate now a days, so local sub distributors/agents will be the best option. Getting good movies is not a big issue as digital cinema has made it very easy. For any other related queries do write/call.

@suresh kumar, Rajasthan is the best option to open a movie theater as 100% tax exemption provides quick recovery. I will recommend you to plan at least two screens multiplex for good return at the same price. You will require consultant to guide you properly. For any doubts do write/call. 

@satish khumukcham, Go for digital projector, contact to UFO(they have presence in Manipur) get movie directly without going here and there as prints are old story now because of their costing and maintenance hardly available in the circle As you have already opened theater then install UFO.

After installation you can call them to get info about particular distributor of your area who will be running the movie you want. UFO charge 300 to 350(after sometimes 1000 per week, there are many slabs) per show and installation cost would be 30-40 thousands (including 25000 refundable amount) depends on the quality projector. There are so many things to look after in the process of opening a cinema like Civil work, Architect, electrical, sound, liasoning, projection, programming etc. Please don't find any short cut way as internet movies are not for theater. @gopal khandelwal, First of all need to see geographical Status and standard of living of this particular area as per the above mentioned information pricing and revenue would be calculated. Actual Investment depends on the quality work so without knowing exact plan, not possible to quote. Approx cost would be 1 to 1.5 CR for small city if ticket price is above 100 Rs. Canteen inside the multiplex generates more revenue than ticket. Go Ahead with proper plan, you will get good returns. 

@NIMESH, As per our telecom. first decide what do want to plan like area, no. of seats, no. of screens then sit with your consultant and make proper plan to go ahead. To get fast recovery, plan at least two screens with 100 capacity each. There are so many steps to cover one by one. In Navi Mumbai approx cost of a standard multiplex would be 1.5 to 3 cr. @Chandra bishi, We are already working on one project in Odisha. You will require max 5000 sq ft area to build the complete cinema and cost for the same would be around 30 to 50 Lacs. As far as whole process is concerned there are so many things to look after from civil work to programming.

@ankit nutan, I Guess Manawar Comes In Dhar MP. It’s very lucrative business to open a movie theater in MP as you will get tax Exemption for five years (with some increasing slabs). You should plan two screens multiplex with the capacity of 100 seats each for fast recovery.

1. I think 5000 sq ft of space is less for any type of cinema. since a lot of space is required to satisfy fire safety norms...(you have to leave at least 9mt in front, 6mt on rest of the sides for easy movement of any fire tender..)
2. Cinema halls indeed is a very good business.. but it also depends upon the subject of films that is enjoyed in your region..in north India mostly hindi films are shown.. in Rajasthan there are few rajasthani movies but they have a limited scope.
3. there are a a number of digital content suppliers (UFO,Real Image,D Cat, etc) you can chose any of them at the time when your cinema is complete..it takes 4/5 days for installation.
