The city where I would like to start a doughnut shop in Winston, Oregon. There is only one shop in the Roseburg area. There are a lot of logging trucks and traffic. the location would be right on the main street--Hwy 42. I would like any information on machinery needed, prices if possible, lay out, who to contact for coffees, boxes, other things to sell, recipes. Thank you , Jack Cedarholm

We have a fully functional donut shop in Humble (Houston) Texas on FM 1960. All permits and equipment are in place as well as inventory and everything is ready to go. This is a turn-key shop. Equipment is used but very good and we will warranty everything. Very cute shop. $65,000

also and donut shop for sale for 200,000 will guarantee you minimum 10000 profit a month. a donut shop for sale for 50,000 will guarantee you what? also don't believe the stories about( selling shop due to health problems...etc.)
  • michael said on January 14, 2011
i posted the comments first b4 reading the previous. just basically read everything and one guy stood out to me#53 floyd is right. what he is talking about i understand. people in the past come to my donut shops and ask to have me train them for some money($5000).they can see the profits! i just say no because when you have somebody along side you asking this and that, its hard to get the job done. donuts is exactly like a 9to5 job. very easy and rewarding like #53 said. if you chose a great location, and make a certain amount of donuts a day and have your wife/husband sell them while you go home and sleep, what happens when they are all sold out? come back out and make more. the more you sell the more you make.not the more you make the more you sell. freshness is everything when it comes to food. you do not want to make too much and end up not sell it, or you do nut want to make too little and customers are always getting frustrated because they came to a (donut) shop that has no donuts!what!?!? so out of the three hundred something posts about interested in opening a donut shop, yeah if you can master the skill in making great delicious donuts, thats all that matters. you can have the best location and make no money, or have the worst location and make a ridiculous amount of money.i can go all day just email me.
  • michael said on January 14, 2011
one more thing for today a donut machine will not make you money. you are the machine! use your time and effort to make money! post #312 posted something very important. donuts is not a breakfast lunch or dinner food. the peak hours and profit sales is mornings when people go to work. like factory jobs, office jobs, assembly jobs, construction jobs. anyone who has worked in these type of jobs probably has had a box of donuts there.jobs that carry meetings or something. jobs like boeing who has overpaid supervisors buying donuts for their crew.

I have been in the bakery business for almost 40 years. I have developed my own recipes for many items that have been very successful. I started out in the donut business. I think I would like to go back to that with a different flare. Like old world donuts from scratch instead of these bag mixes they all use today. would anyone like to partner up with me and start our own. no franchise fees. buy a mixer , fryer and a proof box and a bakers bench, fix the front up and we will be set to go at a minimal cost. old world donuts should make a comeback. and its a nice gimmick. and of course coffee. the best in town NY. but a smile is the best seller of all. contact me. you dont need franchise. you can do this cheap and make good stuff.

My wife and I own a donut and coffee shop in N. Illinois, that we run together. I have read all the info seekers and comments from current shop owners. But nobody asks about or if there is any enjoyment in running your own place.Long hours alot of decisions you have to make.If your a people person and enjoy seeing the fruits of your labor put a smile on a childs face or even an adults then a donut and coffee shop is for you, because it is not all about how much money I can make, more about the relationships you create with your customers. We have had our place for 13 years and we both enjoy the interaction we have with our customers and there families.

I am thinking i would like to have a doughnut store but wondered how much money a person should have to start up a store not including store rent. and is there a basic recipe all stores use because i dont see much difference in taste from store to store weather it as a franchise or an independent place. some are crispier then others which i like but i would imagine that has to do with the length of time the dough stays in the fryer. please send info thanks.

I have done a lot of research into opening a donut shop, however one area I am hitting a road block is the initial feasibility. I am considering this business venture in a small town, within a larger rural community with one major arterial and small shopping area. The total population in this area is approx. 10,000, with roughly 30% of that commuting past the shopping area in question. Of course some of the few restaurants in the area are doing well with very little creativity, and the area is a major summer recreation spot with a lot of tourists/travelers, so with all of this how would I determine if this is a viable feasible business?

I live in a small town near a major military base somewhat nearby. There is very little jobs, shopping or, restaurants of any kind in this town. If you want or need much of anything, you have to go 30+ miles to Panama City, Fl. There is only one way into town from Panama and one way out to any kind of civilization. Just as you come into town on the other side of Tyndall Airforce Base (30+ mi.) there is a doughnut shop. He only sells doughnuts and a few drinks (coffee, hot chocolate, cappacinno, and milk). There is no place to sit down and eat. Also, there is only enough room to park maybe 4 or five cars. He's only open until about 10 or 11 a.m. (He's usually sold out by then). That's the kind of business I would like to duplicate here. I would like to know exactly how to do that and where should I be looking to locate it (in town for the locals or on the beach for the tourists and commuters)?

I think this would be a less risky starting point due to the existing store's customer base. If possible, I would prefer to pick a store which is the only one in a small town... Thanks and I hope this would be a helpful source for me and look forward to hearing from you soon. Kheang
