    Fish demand in Zambia is estimated at 120000mt while production from both capture and aquaculture is 80000mt with the later contributing only 5000mt. Zambia holds 40% of water in Southern Africa; cost of constructing a 500sm earthen pond in Western Province is about $100. with the capture fisheries being either fully or over exploited, why not venture into fish farming?

    There is a fishpond in a particular school here in our place. It was operated before, but because of financial insufficiency and perhaps lack of knowledge of the care takers the pond was took for granted for almost 6 years already. We arrived at this place, and saw the pond, I, then felt the need to re-operate the said pond. This is because, I saw the location of the pond was so favorable due to the fact that it has a flowing water that could supply and maintain the water content of the pond. But, sad to say, that I only have a little knowledge on how to start fish culture and the things to do for the survival of fishes. The owner of the pond agreed to me already that I have to operate the pond. What should I do? If you can give me a sample feasibility study of the pond it is of great help so I can formally and legally operate the pond by my own. Thank you, and more power!

    I intend to set up a farm on 2 acres of land in Lagos Nigeria. The farm would have a fishery that has produce all year round; a poultry that has eggs all year round and also has live chickens for sale; A snail farm also.
