@samresh, You can go for 2500 MT cold storage for potato investment is 2.5 crore. 

@Ramachandra, Sir, You can go for cold storage with such a multi purpose warehouse of Investment of Rs. 1.5 Cr to 2 Cr incl. subsidies. You can go for bank loan for long terma as well as for capital loan also.  Land should be well connected to road and will be like gold if available near Mandi . Lease will have to be minimum 15 year to get your project subsidize. You can go for two chamber of 1250 MT each and total capacity of  2500 MT .You can go for subsidy with NHB with the help of consultant apply for NHB for LOI of subsidy. One you get it clear then only you go ahead with the project. In case of potato the farmer and Adati are also interested in keeping there potato in cold storage. 

@abhinav, With the help of a consultant you can apply for LOI to NHB. Land and capacity are OK. What about the investment?

@hariram, You can set up cold storage of around 1500 MT . The storage life is 6-8 month for onion under 2-4 deg C and 60 % humidity. The cost is around 2 crore for system and you will get subsidy @ 40% on the basis of cost 6000 Rs per MT.

@Sriram, First of all the onion and tomato require different condition and they are mostly exported to nearby country . Onion have a storage life more then six month and tomato nearly a month . If you will search locally there will be organise player like reliance , mother dairy and big bazer for leasing out your cold storage. Regarding buing the product you can buy it from APMC and directly from farmer with the help of local horticulture board and collection centre. This is a big opportunity and all the best.

@Sriram, You can contact  national horticulture mission office. website is www.nhm.nic.oc from there you can get in touch with local horticulture board or MSAMB to tap various wholesale market.

@vishal, Land is an important factor for multipurpose cold storage. It should either be near to consumption area or harvesting area . Your land is fit for bulk cold storage for storing potato. It should be well connected to the road and should have the facility of electricity and water . As per as capital requirement . Bank loan is available . Subsidy is being provided by some agencies . If you are going for bulk cold storage idea is good.

@Suman Sabat. Fin coil system and Bunker coil systems are very old design, consumes more electrical power. Not only that you may not get any subsidy for these old design systems. You are to go for most advanced design as "Liquid Over Feed" system to get Govt. subsidy. Project cost for the fin coil and Bunker coil systems are cheaper than modern system of Liquid Overfeed System. Total project cost for modern system will not exceed 3.0 crores for a 5000MT multipurpose cold store.All guidelines including supply, installation, testing & commissioning can be arranged from Kolkata. @ram Agrawal, it depends upon capacity for 5000 MT bulk cold storage 2 acre land . As per as approach road is concerned there is no guideline available but land should be cleared by country town planner .

@vishal, it is not viable to construct one chamber of 1250 MT. You should have at least two chamber along with plan of future expansion . Govt assume for 5000 MT cost of cold storage is 6000 per MT. The smaller is the cold storage more will be the cost.

@Dr SK Sharma, you have to get clearance from country town planner for the use of land. Your capacity of cold storage come out to be 1500 MT . Increase it up to 2000 Mt or 40,000 Bags. Two chamber .Subsidy is available from various department but first you have to apply and land use is to certified by the department of country town planner.

@kamlesh.D.Naik, Your investment for the meat project is less as it require setting up of process plant involving IQF. Better you think about setting up cold storage for fruit and vegitable.

@vaibhav, For multipurpsoe cold storage minimum subsidy is calculated based on Rs. 6000 per MT @ 40%. capacity of cold is limited to 5000 MT for subsidy purpose.

@prashant, you can go ahead with capacity of 2000 MT bulk cold storage of bulk type may be potato or onion.
